Q:  What is a virtual race?

A virtual race can be run (or walked!) anytime and anywhere, even indoors on a treadmill. 

Q:  How does a virtual race work?

Simply register, pick a category to participate (either 5 KM, 10 KM, or a Fun Run/Walk/Activity), then complete it anytime and anywhere you desire.  Submit your results and share your photos!

Q:  Can anyone participate?

Yes! Young or old, fast or slow – we encourage participants of all ages and ability levels.

Q:  Is there a registration fee?

There is no set fee for registration.  This year is different then the past and is pay-what-you-can.  We recognize that this is a difficult year for many people and we are happy to bring our community together with this event regardless of their ability to pay. For those that are able to donate, we are extremely grateful! 

Q:  Can I bike/skate/elliptical/swim/row/ski/etc?

Our events are about providing you with motivation to achieve your personal goals, whatever those may be. So yes, you can complete whatever activity you choose. 

Set your goal and go out and accomplish it!  And if you don’t mind posting photos or comments, we’d love to celebrate with you.

Q:  How do I register a Team?

A Team is easy to register and setup. On the Register for the Fun Run/Walk page choose Team Registration. You will be stepped through the process of setting up your own account and then creating a Team. You will be presented with the option to make a one time Team Donation right away when the Team Registration starts. You can skip this step and choose to visit Donate Now page at a later time.

The person setting up the Team initially will take on the role of Team Leader. It is their job to input the names and email addresses of everyone on your team. Every participant needs an email address.

When you add a person to your team, they will receive an automated email right away inviting them to setup an account on the website. Each Team Member will not be asked to make a donation but they are welcome to visit our Donate Now page whenever they feel. When they setup their personal account it will automatically be linked to your Team so they will be able to see all the other Team Members, their Photos and Results.

Q:  How do I register as part of a Team?

To join a team you have two options.

Option 1: Your Team Leader can add you to a Team. When your Team Leader adds your Name and Email address to a Team you will receive an automated email inviting you to setup an account which will be associated to your Team and Team Members.

Option 2: You can request to join a Team. After you have registered as an Individual, you can choose the Request to Join a Team option from the menu along the top of the website. Select the Team from the list and click Submit. An email will be sent to the Team Leader with your request to Approve or Decline.

How do I enter my result?

Once logged in, click Results Information on the left. Then choose the Event you completed. If you choose 5 KM, 10 KM or Fun Run or Walk existing Route option, then you can select your route from the list. If you choose a different category you have the option to enter in your own Route description.

Enter the date and time for when you completed the route and how long it took you, minutes separate from the seconds.

If you chose the 5 KM or 10 KM event you will have the option to enter a verification link. Verification links are optional. This is a hyperlink to an online running system that you used to track your run. For example Strava, Garmin Connect or MapMyRun. If you enter a Verification link then someone from our Fun Run Team will review your link and verify your time and distance. Once verified your time will show in the Verified Times result list.

Q:  How do I verify my time?

If you would like to qualify for medal position in the 5 KM or 10 KM timed race, you will need to use an app that tracks you run to submit your route data.

Common apps: Strava, Run Keeper, MapMyRun, and FitBit.

Run the route as posted on the website, track your time on your app, and then upload the data link of your completed run into the verification field located on the results information tab on your personal profile.

Q:  Should we run or walk outside?  Is it safe?

It is very important at this time to practice physical distancing to keep you and others safe.

Air on the side of caution: run or walk early in the day, use a treadmill, or choose a rural area.

DO NOT gather with friends and fellow Walkers or Runners to participate. This years Fun Run and Walk is about participating as a collective but not necessarily  together at the same time.

Q:  Can I submit times for both the timed 5 KM Run and the 10 KM Run?

Each participant can submit times for only one event.  For instance, if you choose 10 KM Run and submit a time, you cannot submit a time for the 5 KM Run as well.

Q:  Can I change my race category?

Yes.  If you signed up for the 10 KM Run, but want to change it just select the category you want to participate in and submit your results.

Q: I want to participate in the timed 5 KM or 10 KM Run, but I want to run my own route. 

You may run any Route you wish.  You can choose an existing Route or enter in your own custom Route when submitting your Result.

Q: When will I receive my digital race bib?

Personalized race bibs are can generated by you from the My Registration section of the website. Your bib number is automatically generated and you a have an option to write a personal message that will be printed on your bib.  Be creative!

Digital versions of these bibs are free and for your enjoyment. They are not required for you to complete your virtual run. They are available for download on your registration page and can be accessed (and printed at home if you desire) any time.
